Research

Study on the Effects of Aging on Landmines (Cambodia and Jordan) (2009-2010)

Funded by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, Department of Weapons Removal and Abatement, this major scientific study documents the effects of time, weather, soil and other environmental conditions on landmines.

Senior Managers' Courses


Senior Managers' Courses at JMU work to improve management skills among national managers of mine-action programs. Its focus includes conventional weapons destruction, small arms/light weapons, and other emerging topics in the post-conflict recovery field.

Information Exchange

The Journal of ERW and Mine Action

The Journal is the longest continuous source of information on ERW and Mine Action in the world. It has been in publication since 1996 and is sponsored by the U.S, State Department's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement; and the U.S. Department of Defense's Office of Humanitarian Demining Research and Development.

"Training for Trauma" Peer Support Training

CISR's Peer Support Training Programs provide training to victims of conflict and trauma to become counselors to others who are also suffering. Recent trainings have taken place in Burundi, Rwanda and Colombia.

Peer Support Training

"Pathways to Resilience" Victim Assistance

The Pathways to Resilience program brings together landmine survivors for psyco-social rehablitiation.

"We Love Life!" Mine Risk Education

We Love Life! is a theatrical play and art project that teaches school age children about the dangers of unexploded ordnance.
