| The UNMEE MACC is the first UN mine action coordination center to deploy a Programme Officer to the MACC headquarters offices in Asmara. The deployment of a Programme Officer to the UNMEE MACC has enabled the UNMEE MACC to compile and submit timely, comprehensive and useful reports both to UNMEE and other UN partners at headquarters in New York. In addition, this novel staff deployment has allowed the Programme Manager to focus on higher responsibilities such as policy and strategy matters. The integration of a Programme Officer in the standard body of staff of a UN mine action coordination center benefits the mine action center as well as the peacekeeping mission itself. |
