This experimental piece of Norwegian gear is an update of the American M113 APC. Utilizing a Stenson roller mounted on the front, the M113 is utilized primarily to proof ground that has been flailed or to proof low threat ground that has not been treated. It operates on the principle of detonation by contact, exerting a downward pressure in front of the flail. It comes equipped with both a laser directed M2 .50 cal. machine gun and Kevlar appliqué armor. Recently, the Norwegian Engineer School removed the M113 from use as a proofing tool after tests discovered that sufficient force was not being exerted downward by the rollers. It is currently off-line pending a technical fix.
