Subject
US Military comment on weight dispersion boots
Category
Equipment
Situation
The Norwegians use an air-filled dispersion boot for sweeping and probing made in Israel called the “Checkmate”.
Recommendation/
Comment
Consisting of a collapsible aluminum frame with canvas container and rubber air bladders. This exceedingly simple design originated with the Israelis and has proven to be a godsend. When inflated it places 30 grams/cm of weight vs. 3-6kg of pressure which is required to initiate most AP mines. The dispersion boots provide combat engineers the ability to enter an area of unknown or known threat without substantial fear of initiating an AP mine.
