Send us your photos!
The Journal of Mine Action is looking for GOOD PHOTOS. If you’re the photographer of good or better-than-good photos, we want them! Photos help explain ideas, concepts and complicated tasks or machines. They help to show the human side of demining. And we need more of them!
If you’re an amateur photographer (or even a professional photographer), this is a good way to get your photography skills known. If we print them in the Journal of Mine Action or use them on our Web site, we'll give the photographer a credit line on the photo when we use it.
Publicity Only We will not We will not, however, pay for photos. You will retain the copyright, so you’re free to submit your photo to other magazines or offer it for sale. However, when you submit your photo to us, you must give us permission to print the photo whenever we want as long as we acknowledge you as the artist (unlimited use). And you can always rescind that use if you sell the photo later.
Captions and Identification We also need captions to go with each photo, so send us a brief statement saying what the photo is about and who the people are who are shown in the photo (names should be listed left to right and so indicated).
Specifications We accept original photos or digital photos that are a minimum of 300 dots per inch. Try to send them in the biggest size you can. Color photos are preferred, but sometimes black-and-white photos are acceptable, too. You don't have to write an article to submit photos. You can send photos in alone.
If the digital photos result in very large digital files, please upload them to http://www.dropload.com and send me an email letting me know you have done this. My email address is editormaic@gmail.com. I can accept somewhat large files at this email address directly. Please do not send .zip files. Also, do not send large files to our JMU email address. We cannot accept them.
I look forward to seeing your photos!
