Issue 6.1 Call for Papers
|
Deadline for Submissions: Jan. 24.
2002 |
Theme: National Mine Action Programs
This issue will focus on national demining and mine action
programs. Specific articles will be solicited from each countries' mine action
center, national demining office, or mine action coordination center for review
of their operations and challenges. Embassies will also be contracted to provide
their view on mine action in their countries.
Feature: The Future of Mine Action
Articles are being sought from local, governmental, NGO or
contracted program managers for a look into the future of mine action. The mine action
community could benefit from learning about what our mistakes have been, how we
can prevent them, and what our collective experiences have taught us to date.
Other questions these articles could answer are:
- How will technology change what we do in the future?
- Are our clearance priorities changing and why?
- Will a decreasing number of victims receive an increase in
assistance?
- What have we learned about educating children?
- Is "donor fatigue" real and how do we adjust?
- Is it time for Regional Demining Centers and support
systems?
Submission Guidelines:
- Articles must be no longer than 3,000 words and submitted
in digital format (i.e. Microsoft Word .doc).
- Images must be scanned at 300 dpi and submitted on CD or
Zip disk.
- Line art, graphics and charts should be scanned at 600 dpi
or better.
