Chechnya Crisis Highlighted

The conflict in Chechnya from November 1994 to November 1997 left 10% of the pre-war Chechen population dead and sent 500,000 refugees into neighboring countries. The landmine and UXO crisis continues to destroy the Chechen people and prevent reconstruction. Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) has finished a comprehensive Fact Finding Mission describing the challenges and opportunities for assistance. Contact Michael Hands at michael.hands@npaid.no or NPA at P.O. Box 8844, Youngstorget 0028 Oslo Tel +47- 2203-7700. Physicians for Global Survival in Ottawa have also created an online resource to help alert the global community to the Chechnya crisis.
