There are far too many countries with landmine problems, and Africa has more than its share of battle-scarred nations. In this issue of the JMA, we’ve included several articles about African countries in our printed magazine, and you can read many more of them in the online version of the Journal.

Our feature on the inter-relationship of landmines and explosive remnants of war drew some compelling articles by knowledgeable and experienced people involved in mine action. Our staff-written primer on ERW is an excellent treatise on all things ERW. We also have a fascinating “Making It Personal” story by Adam Kushner, M.D., about his experiences in Malakal, Sudan, and several in-depth technical articles in our special R&D section, plus lots more.

Finally, we’re highlighting the Mine Action Information Center’s 10 years of service to the mine-action community with an editorial by Director Dennis Barlow, along with a photo montage of some of the things we’ve done over the years. We hope you enjoy the “trip.”
