Landmine Survivor Mr. Richard Villadiego
Ver esta página en español

Mr. Richard Villadiego, a civilian landmine victim, offered his heartrending testimony. He began his presentation by offering the background of his accident including the area where it occurred and the countless hours of pain he had to endure before reaching an adequate medical facility. Due to his traumatic experience, Mr. Villadiego emphasized, throughout his presentation, the need for immediate medical attention following a landmine accident. He also touched upon the hardships his family had to endure and the fact that he was not aware of government assistance programs or organizations such as CIREC that provided assistance to landmine victims. Mr. Villadiego explained the difference that CIREC has made in his life and asked the private and governmental organizations to expand their efforts in assisting landmine victims, specifically the poor landmine victims in the rural area that must often pay the highest price. Finally, he touched on the importance of reintegrating landmine victims as productive members of society.
